The number of launched criminal cases has recently grown significantly in Armenia. This is what Vice-Chairman of the Investigative Committee Artur Melikyan said during today’s discussion on the draft of the 2021 State Budget held as part of the joint session of the Standing Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs and on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia.

“The number of criminal cases is growing, more reports are being prepared, and there are more preliminary investigations for reasons known to us all. We see the growth of the number of criminal cases every year, and even during the reporting semesters. Due to the recent events, there is already a significant rise in the number of criminal cases launched in the military sector,” he said.

According to him, even though the plan was to launch nearly 33,000 criminal cases in 2021, as the latest events showed, there may be significantly more cases.
