The Representative of Armenia before the European Court of Human Rights has reported the following on its Facebook page:

“The Office of the Representative of Armenia before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has provided full information about all the legal actions taken to observe the right of persons captured by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to life, including the applications sent by Armenia and lawyers to the ECHR and the measures applied against Azerbaijan to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Armenia, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Human Rights Defender to take actions within the scope of their powers.

New facts about gross violations of human rights by Azerbaijan are continuously presented to the ECHR.

Besides, all information about captives is sent to other state bodies for them to explore the information and take legal actions. All steps and initiatives to protect the rights of captives and bring them back are commendable.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to mention that the issues related to captives are sensitive, especially for the relatives. Any initiative targeted at the gathering of personal data through social platforms, the publication of data regarding the number of captives or the dissemination of statements referring to unknown sources can not only pose a risk to the life and health of the captives, but also cause indescribable pain and suffering to their relatives.”
