The presentation of a giant moving robot from the anime franchise took place on Monday in a port city Yokohoma, nearby Tokyo, TASS reports.

The 18m (59ft) tall construction is a part of the extensive complex Gundam Factory, built on the waterfront in the area of the Yamashita Park. The robot stands on a special dock, which fulfills the function of a viewing deck. The Gundam Lab with exhibitions and facilities, where you can learn more about the creation of the moving robot and its internal structure stands next to it.

The visitors will be able to try out themselves on the pilot position of Gundam, located on its head, in one of the pavilions, and with the help of augmented reality technology. For image transmission, in this case, the 5G network is used from the Japanese mobile operator Softbank. Moreover, there are a themed cafe, a conference room, and a store with exclusive items from the anime franchise.

The opening of the Gundam Factory was originally scheduled for this summer, but it had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The complex will be available for the usual visitors since December 19. The ticket price will be 1 650-3 300 yen ($16-$32) depending on the visiting place.

The first animated full-length film about humanoid combat Gundam robots was made in 1939. It was called Mobile Suit Gundam. This movie along with world-famous Evangelion is considered as one of the greatest anime works in Japanese history. Later on, dozens of other Gundam anime films were made and the franchise itself is actively used until now.
