Armenia’s Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan today had a telephone conversation with Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, army general Sergey Shoygu.

The defense ministers of both countries discussed the current issues on cooperation in the defense sector, as well as a number of issues related to the operative situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the return of captives and hostages and the search for missing persons.

The Armenian defense minister expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for the effective activities of the peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the essential support to the solution to security issues through the deployment of Russian border guards in the Syunik Province of Armenia.

The two defense ministers also exchanged views on the recent military-political developments in the region.
