Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia Aleksandr Konyuk.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and stated that Armenia attaches importance to the development of political and economic cooperation with Belarus in the bilateral and multilateral formats.

Pashinyan touched upon the situation created after the war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), attached importance to the balanced position of Belarus in this regard, stated that the return of prisoners of war, as well as preservation of the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories under Azerbaijan’s control are major priorities for the Armenian side and added that efforts continue to be made in this direction.

Konyuk stated that there is close cooperation and a high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Belarus, attached importance to maintenance of the stable situation in the region and mentioned that Belarus is willing to support the efforts being made in this direction.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the intensification of economic ties and touched upon the opportunities to be created through de-blockage of economic and transport infrastructures in the region.
