Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today visited the Ministry of Justice to discuss the ministry’s current and future programs.

Prior to the consultation, the Prime Minister visited the Unified Office for Public Services where he was introduced to the services provided to citizens and the effectiveness of services.

Pashinyan stated that the Ministry of Justice has a wide range of operations, but it is usually associated with courts, the policy on the judicial-legal system and legislation. “We have given a lot of impetus to the reforms of the judiciary in recent times. The results of these reforms do not become visible immediately, but I am convinced that thanks to consistent steps, we will be able to achieve the implementation of the goal we have before us; that is, the establishment of an independent judiciary and a fair judiciary,” he said, adding the following: He added: " In recent times, we have witnessed attempts to politicize the judiciary, which, of course, is inadmissible and undermines the very idea of the judiciary and justice. And here we must have not only current, but long-term mechanisms in general, not only to uproot such phenomena, but also to prevent [them] at all.”

The Prime Minister gave the floor to Minister Rustam Badasyan, who presented the course of implementation of the measures being taken by the Ministry of Justice and touched upon the activities being carried out for the creation of the Anti-Corruption Committee and its structure. Badasyan also touched upon the activities for formation of the Anti-Corruption Court, the measures being taken to replenish the judiciary with new judges and the reforms in the arbitration institution.

The representatives of the Ministry of Justice talked about the actions being taken to introduce electronic justice and the Patrol Service and stated that over 2,500 people have applied to take part in the courses for being included in the system of the Patrol Service.

There were also talks over improvement of the system for Civil Status Acts Registration, the introduction of the new diet in the penitentiary system, as a result of which convicts and detainees are provided with high-quality food.
