A group of experts from the World Health Organization has come out of quarantine in Wuhan to begin investigating the causes of the Covid-19 pandemic, AFP reported.

The virus is believed to have originated from bats and originally spread from a wet market in Wuhan.

The WHO insists the visit will be closely linked to the science of how the virus passed from animals to humans.

Speaking to reporters, new White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said it was necessary to get to the bottom of how the virus emerged and spread throughout the world. Psaki expressed concern over misinformation from some sources in China and called for a reliable and clear investigation.

Meanwhile, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tweeted Thursday that he had a frank discussion with Chinese Health Minister Ma Xiaowei. He asked the panel of experts to get support, access and the necessary data, and the opportunity to fully interact with their Chinese counterparts.
