Israeli environmentalists warn that the oil pipeline deal between the UAE and Israel threatens the unique coral reefs of the Red Sea and could lead to the next environmental disaster, AP reported.

The agreement on the supply of Emirati crude oil by tankers to a pipeline in the port of Eilat on the Red Sea is due to take effect within a few months.

Activists mobilized last week when experts warned of possible leaks and spills in the port and Israel's environment ministry demanded urgent negotiations on the deal.

The Jewish state and the United Arab Emirates established ties last year mediated by the United States.
