Today Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artur Tovmasyan, deputies and staff members of the National Assembly visited the fraternal memorial complex in Stepanakert to lay flowers at the tomb of first chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Artur Mkrtchyan.
Today Artur Mkrtchyan would have turned 61.
Artur Mkrtchyan was born in 1959. On January 8, 1992, he was elected first chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He died on April 14, 1992.
In 2001, he was posthumously awarded the Grigor Lusavorich Order for his services provided to the homeland.
