The traffic of Azerbaijani convoys—accompanied by Russian peacekeepers—on the Martakert-Vardenis motorway section under the control of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) started in the days following the November 9 ceasefire. Artsakh presidential spokeswoman Lusine Avanesyan told Armenpress about this, commenting on the press reports, according to which it has been 15-20 days that Azerbaijani vehicles, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, have started traveling along the aforesaid Armenian-controlled 45-50 km road section.

"That road starts from Mataghis, then passing through the Drmbon-Getavan section, reaches Karvachar. Back in January of this year, the residents of Drmbon had closed off that road section to the Azerbaijani motorcade, demanding that the relatively short road to Vardenis be made accessible to them as well.

After the approval of the ceasefire in November last year, according to the provisions of the statement, Azerbaijani cars are also moving—accompanied by Russian peacekeepers—along this road, as well as the Karmir Shuka-Shosh-Shushi and Shushi-Berdzor road sections," Avanesyan explained, adding that the only difference is that recently the traffic of Azerbaijani convoys has intensified, and this is due to the transportation of construction cargo.
