As part of the implementation of the trilateral statement by the president of Russia, the president of Azerbaijan, and the prime minister of Armenia on November 9, 2020, Russian peacekeepers continue to assist in the resumption of peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)], the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"As a result of the agreements reached earlier, the machine room of the Lachin hydroelectric power plant [(HPP)] ended up in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers, whereas the dam of the hydroelectric power plant—in the area that has passed under the control of Azerbaijan.

The operation of the HPP has resumed with the assistance of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. Russian peacekeepers are currently ensuring the energy specialists’ safe and unobstructed access to the electric power plant for maintenance of units and systems. This will enable electricity to be supplied to nearby settlements, as well as to the [Karabakh capital] city of Stepanakert," the Russian Defense Ministry also said in the statement.
