Demonstrators blocked the northern exits and entrances to Beirut on major highways, RIA Novosti reported.

Protesters are blocking the main streets of the Lebanese capital with burning tires and garbage cans. They barricaded the main highway leading north.

Lebanese media reported that demonstrators also began blocking transport links between Beirut and southern Lebanon and the section of the road between Sidon and Tyre.

Lebanese Acting Prime Minister Hassan Diyab said on Saturday that the country was on the brink of a public explosion and a point of no return amid the deepening crisis.

For a week now all over Lebanon, there have been protests with road blockages. Demonstrators are blocking downtown Beirut and major metropolitan highways with burning tires, as well as highways in the south, north, and east of the country. The protesters are demanding that the authorities start real actions to overcome the economic crisis and improve the life of the population.

Lebanon has been going through a deep economic and political crisis since autumn 2019.
