There will be a bonfire, water, tents and other conditions so that we can keep the street closed. This is what coordinator of the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement Ishkhan Saghatelyan declared after blocking the entrances to the National Assembly on Demirtchyan Street and Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan and emphasized that he and the members of the opposition will spend the night there.

Saghatelyan called on the gathered to block entrances to state institutions performing unconstitutional actions and urged Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to resign since he has no other choice. He added that there is news that police troops are being brought to Yerevan from different provinces and asked the police to not follow the unlawful orders of a lunatic, referring to Pashinyan.

Saghatelyan also told the citizens that this is a fight for the salvation of the homeland, not a fight for power. He told reporters that the opposition won’t allow the parliament to continue its activities since the actions of the ruling majority are anti-national, anti-state and unconstitutional.

“If there is no state institution that doesn’t protect the constitutional order, we are ready to fight and protect it, and this is our natural right. If Nikol comes and resigns, we’ll open the road. I talked to the chief of police of Yerevan and urged him to not make provocations,” Saghatelyan said.
