By the assignment of the military prosecutor of the garrison of the Military Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia in Goris, according to the report prepared by the Goris Unit of the Military Police Division of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia in Sisian on the basis of press releases, it has become clear that on May 20, 2021 at around 10 a.m. a group of armed servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan trespassed the protected state border in the sector of Khoznavar village (in the administrative territory of Tegh community of Syunik Province).

The servicemen moved forward nearly 1.5 km in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, positioned themselves, threatened to use force against the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia who approached them, informed them that the territory belongs to the Republic of Azerbaijan and threatened to open fire at them in case they came closer. Afterwards, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia succeeded in sending them back to their starting positions. This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia.

On the same day, at around 9:10 p.m., several servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan trespassed the protected state border in the same sector once again and got into a dispute with several servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia who had moved towards them and were performing their official duties. During a brawl, 11 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia received bodily injuries of varying degrees. The 11 servicemen succeeded in sending the Azerbaijani soldiers back to their starting positions again.

A criminal case has been launched under particular Articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia (unlawful crossing of state border, actions aimed at violation of territorial integrity, intentionally causing grave harm to the health of two or more persons, a person or his or her close relative in connection with performing his or her service or public duty by that person or by a group of persons or an organized group).
