Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan on Friday received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson, as reported the press service of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry.

Greeting the Ambassador, Khachaturyan stated that one of the Armenian government’s priorities is to turn Armenia into a high-tech industry country and, taking into consideration the unprecedented successes in the Swedish industry, the minister highly appreciated the close cooperation with Sweden and the exchange of experience.

Touching upon the successful strategy on digitalization in Sweden, the minister attached importance to the prospects for cooperation and added that Armenia can become attractive for foreign investors, if it has a digitalized society.

Ambassador Svensson emphasized the current opportunities for cooperation and stated that Armenia is making significant progress in the fields of digitalization, innovation and high technology and welcomed the government’s approach and the support provided to the sector. Svensson also mentioned that Sweden is interested in the engagement of talents and grants several scholarships through the Eastern Partnership programs.

The parties expressed willingness to take active steps to strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly through exchange of professional experience, the development of an eco-system, cooperation between the startups of both countries and educational programs.
