Borders in Europe cannot be changed by force, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking by video link at the World Economic Forum, DW reported.
According to him, it is not yet possible to say whether intensive diplomatic contacts can reduce the tension of the situation on Russia's border with Ukraine.
"After years of growing tensions, silence is not a reasonable option," Scholz said in his first forum speech as chancellor, adding that strength of the law must be upheld, and not the law of the strongest.
"The Russian side is aware of our determination. I hope it is also aware that the benefits of cooperation are significantly higher than the price of further confrontation," he said.
