The UK has no plans to send combat units to Ukraine, a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, Reuters reports.

Commenting on the statement by the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK that Kyiv would welcome British soldiers in the event of a Russian invasion, a spokesman for the British prime minister said: There are absolutely no plans to send British combat troops to Ukraine.

The UK has already sent a small number of infantry to Ukraine to help with weapons training.
