YEREVAN. - Armenian Lori region resident that strangled her newborn baby has been released under amnesty.

45-year-old Vanadzor resident Z.S., a mother of four children gave birth to her fifth child in the bathroom of her apartment on January 7 and strangled the infant on the spot. The woman tried to conceal the fact but her story was revealed after she was hospitalized due to sharp deterioration of health.

The court sentenced her to three years in prison but she got released under the recent amnesty.

The woman claims, she committed the crime in a state of post-partum shock. She also points out the difficult social conditions of the family.
