Moscow hosted Russian-Armenian consultations in interdepartmental format on implementation of bilateral intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on ensuring biological security.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, they exchanged assessments on biological security threats in the CIS region. "They discussed the implementation of the bilateral Memorandum on Biosafety, including specific areas for further cooperation. Issues of optimizing and improving the efficiency of implementing the provisions of this Memorandum through the formation of an appropriate consultative mechanism were considered."

The event confirmed the commonality of approaches of Russia and Armenia to the problems of biological security. It was noted that there is a need for further close coordination and constructive cooperation both in bilateral format and at specialized multilateral platforms.
