SHUSHI. – The first international symposium on sculpture after Hakob Gyurjyan held in Shushi city in Nagorno-Karabakh on July 28. It launched on July 17.

Among numerous visitors and 22 guests arrived from Italy, the parliament speaker of Karabakh Ashot Ghulyan and the Minister of Youth Narine Aghabalyan were also invited in the closing ceremony of the symposium.

The symposium was held under numerous obstacles and threats from Azerbaijani side towards Italian guests. Azerbaijanis claimed Italians had no right to visit Karabakh without their formal permission.

Photographer at Italian Studio Quagli, who also made photos of the symposium, had got a threatening letter from Azerbaijani Embassy to Italy. However, he did not take it serious.

Within the frameworks of the symposium, 15 Italian sculptors created their sculptures on free topic. The sculptures will be set in Shushi city. Recording group of Italian Studio Quagli Company will arrive in Armenia again in fall to shoot the documentary on the history and cultural heritage of Armenia, Karabakh and Western Armenia. The group met accidentally Caroline Cox and took an interview from the British baroness. The interview will also be included in the documentary, which will be released on Italian Rai 1 channel.
