Armenia welcomes the plans to build an Iranian car manufacturing plant in the country, the head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPOI) Alireza Peyman-Pak said, Mehr reports.

The Iranian official met with Armenian Deputy Economy Minister Narek Teryan on Monday, during which the sides discussed the development of trade relations, alternative routes for the transit of goods, the construction of an Iranian car production line in Armenia and the construction of a joint production line for household and electronic appliances.

Peyman-Pak said Iran will build a car production plant in Armenia to export its products to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He also said that TPOI offered to launch a car production line in Armenia.

He said that a high-ranking trade and economic delegation from Iran will visit Armenia in mid-October to open Iran's trade center, expressing hope that the launch of an automobile production plant in Armenia will further expand bilateral relations.

In his turn, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy said that Armenia warmly welcomes the presence of Iranian companies in road construction projects in Armenia.

The sides also explored ways to solve problems related to the transit of goods from Iran to Armenia and Russia.
