A young Egyptian woman has been killed in a spate of femicide acts in the country, the Daily Mirror reported.
Amani Abdul-Karim al-Gazzar, 19, was shot and killed in Tukh Tanbisha village in the Menofia Governorate.
A 29-year-old man named as Ahmad Fathi Ameirah shot her after she turned down his marriage proposal, before turning the gun on himself.
In a video on social media, Ameirah appeared to be waiting in the bushes to strike his victim.
He is heard saying: "I am Ahmad Ameirah, you are all searching for me. I am the criminal. I used to [breathe] her, and I was living for her… I will take your [al-Gazzar’s] revenge."
His body was found on a country road.
Attempts to resuscitate the victim at the nearby hospital ultimately proved unsuccessful, and al-Gazzar died.
