U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the August 31 meeting between President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan in Brussels on September 6, a State Department spokesman told TURAN Washington correspondent.

Donfried told Bayramov that Ambassador Phil Ricker, a senior adviser to the Caucasus talks, would soon travel to the region for consultations.

They referred to the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting in New York as an opportunity to advance the peace process, the State Department official added.

The 77th session of the UN General Assembly opens next week. The first day of the high-level general debate will be held on Tuesday, September 20.
