The consulate general of Iran in Kapan, Armenia, will be an indicator of warm relations between Armenia and Iran, and it will be important for ensuring peace and security in the region. The Armenian foreign minister stated this at Friday’s official opening of the consulate general.

Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Armenia lauds Iran's decision to open a consulate general in Syunik Province, which is the backbone of Armenia.

"Today is a significant day in the age-old history of Armenian-Iranian friendly relations. The opening of the consulate general of Iran in Kapan and its effective operation will give a new quality to the special relations of the two countries, will promote cooperation, and will contribute to the development of Armenian-Iranian ties.

It is noteworthy that this important event takes place on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Armenia and Iran. The path we traveled over the past 30 years has been marked by a sincere desire for strategic relations, friendship, and close partnership. I am confident that from now on, all necessary efforts will be made to deepen and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation," the Armenian FM emphasized.
