Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan have agreed on a joint statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. According to the President of Russia, not everything was agreed upon, some things had to be taken out of the text that had been previously worked out at the level of specialists. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this after his meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Sochi.

"We held three sessions of talks today: first with the Armenian delegation and then we talked face to face with the Armenian Prime Minister, then with the Azerbaijani delegation and face to face with the Azerbaijani President and then we talked for two, probably even a little more hours with the three of us. In our common opinion, it was a very useful meeting. In my opinion, it created a very good atmosphere for future possible agreements on some fundamental issues," said the President of Russia.

"Today we have agreed on a joint statement. I must tell you frankly, not everything has been agreed upon, some things had to be taken out of the preliminary worked out at the expert level text. Nevertheless, I agree with the general evaluation that the meeting was useful and it creates the conditions for further steps towards the solution of the situation in general. And when I say generally, I mean both the current events of the recent past and the events that took place two years ago. Still, we were able to agree then on matters of principle. And today's discussion also shows that we can agree on the future of our countries. I mean Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as all the countries of the region, because all the peoples living on that territory are interested in the normalization of relations. Russia for its part will do everything in its power to achieve a final and comprehensive settlement. We will be in contact, we will continue this dialogue, we will continue to search for the solutions that are necessary to put an end to this long lasting conflict," he said.
