BAKU – Azerbaijani journalist Idraq Abasov informed that, on Friday, the National Oil Company of Azerbaijan’s security officers, who are destroying homes in order to carry out construction, have beaten Abasov’s family members right in their home, the Azerbaijani Bizimyol newspaper wrote.

“This is linked to my activities. I call on [President] Ilham Aliyev. I wish to secure the safety of my family. With such shameful acts and violation of human rights, how can the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest be held [in Azerbaijan],” Abasov noted, adding that he believed this attack on his family was ordered by Rovnag Abdullayev, President of the National Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
