Russia will respond to attempts by the West to seize Russian assets and property to transfer them to Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday, TASS reported.

"Attempts to encroach on Russian property, assets will be regarded as robbery and will not be left without an appropriate response," she said.

The diplomat stressed that there is no legal way to appropriate Russian assets.

"I understand, of course, in the world that the collective West is now imposing, anything is possible, but if we are talking about the law and legality that has been in effect for decades, there is no legal way to take something from others and appropriate it for yourself," the Russian Foreign Ministry official stressed.
