The new President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel said in a conversation with Blesk newspaper that in the future Ukraine should become a member of NATO and the European Union.

The head of state was asked whether he has plans to participate in the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius and whether he will actively advocate for Ukraine's acceptance into the North Atlantic Alliance.

He also announced the purpose of his visit to Ukraine scheduled for this spring. It is expected to be a joint trip with Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova.

As Paul noted, the trip should be an expression of clear support for Ukraine because the country cannot be allowed to fail in an armed conflict.
