An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 has been recorded in eastern Turkey, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported.

Earlier it was reported a magnitude of 5.4, later it was increased.

The earthquake was recorded at 07.11 UTC 34 kilometers southeast of the town of Malatya. The source was located at a depth of 46 kilometers.

According to the EMSC website, the earthquake was followed by two more aftershocks with magnitudes 4.2 and 3.3.
