The mode of operation of the Lachin corridor should fully comply with the first tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this on Tuesday at his joint news conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in Azerbaijani capital Baku.

Lavrov explained that this means the need to ensure free movement of solely civilian and military goods and civilians.

"This is what we are achieving in our contacts; first of all, in the line of the Russian peacekeeping contingent [in Nagorno-Karabakh]. There it is not planned to set up any checkpoints, but with technical means it is possible to eliminate the doubts that exist in relation to the fact that the [Lachin] corridor is really used according to its purpose. We touched on it today, the technical details are of secondary importance," said the Russian foreign minister.
