NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the alliance countries have agreed to admit Ukraine to NATO, but now this issue is not on the agenda, as NATO's current task is to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and independence. Stoltenberg made the statement at a press conference during a visit to Finland.

NATO members had previously agreed that Ukraine would become a member of our alliance. At the same time, this is a distant prospect, the NATO head stressed.

The politician also said that after the end of hostilities in Ukraine, NATO intends to prevent a repeat of the conflict by strengthening Kiev's military capabilities.
