The number of forestry workers who died as a result of a large fire in the Abai region of Kazakhstan has reached 14.

According to the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire started on June 8 due to a lightning strike. Firefighters did not manage to put it out promptly, because the area was impassable for equipment.
