Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The premier noted that the agenda of Armenian-Russian relations is full and the parties are also working towards the implementation of point 9 of the tripartite statement of November 9-10, 2020.

"As you know, we are interested in opening and unblocking all transport and economic links in the region, based on the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the parties through whose territories these possible infrastructures pass. I am sure that today we will discuss some aspects," Pashinyan said, in particular.

Overchuk, in turn, noted that a meaningful meeting between the PMs of Armenia and Russia took place in Sochi, Russia the other day, and noted that bilateral cooperation is developing successfully. The Russian deputy PM noted that during the first five months of the current year, the trade between Armenia and Russia increased by 96 percent.

Next, the interlocutors reflected on the results of the talks held within the framework of the working group of the deputy prime ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan toward unblocking transport and economic channels in the South Caucasus. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan and Alexey Overchuk discussed matters related to the restoration of railway communication, and implementation of border and customs control based on the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the parties.

Before the meeting with the Armenian premier, the Russian deputy PM met with his Armenian colleague, Mher Grigoryan.

The interlocutors discussed the current matters of Armenian-Russian relations within the framework of the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia, as well as topics related to the development of cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union format.
