Azerbaijan continues to fail to fulfill both its obligations assumed by the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, and the international court’s legally binding decision, according to which unhindered passage through the Lachin corridor was to be ensured; this is blatant contempt. Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, said about this on the air of Public Television, noting that the international community, including the members of the UN Security Council, should make a clear assessment in this regard.

"If we look a little wider at the events, we see that during the last days Azerbaijan is attempting to destabilize the situation in the region, which raises big questions about whether Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani leadership are in any way interested in building peace in the South Caucasus," he said.

When asked why Russia or the CSTO did not issue a statement regarding the firing in the direction of the Armenian borders, Kostanyan stated that it is difficult to say why there no reaction, and recalled that the CSTO has not yet given a political assessment of the Azerbaijani military aggression of September 2022, but they are working so that the CSTO will make a political assessment.

Reflecting on the fact that the Russian side declares that there is no peace after the deployment of EU observers in Armenia, the Armenian deputy FM noted that the deployment of these EU observers has somewhat contributed to stability in the South Caucasus.

With respect to the Turkish president's statement that only Iran is against the opening of the “Zangezur corridor,” Kostanyan said that such a corridor does not exist for the Armenian side, there is a concept of “Armenian Crossroads,” which shall link the North-South and East-West roads, and the only limitation on the part of Armenia is that the unblocking should take place within the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the parties.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs of Armenia emphasized that the road should be controlled by the Armenian side.
