Luis Bono continues to work on reopening the Lachin corridor, a short-term priority of Washington. Matthew Miller, Spokesperson of US Department of State, noted about this during Thursday’s Department press briefing, reflecting on the current visit to Armenia by Bono, Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations of the US Department of State and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair from the US.

According to Miller, the long-term priority of the United States is "to reach a peaceful resolution to the overall matter" as soon as possible

And answering the question on what the US State Department’s message is to the suffering Armenian Christians, Miller said: "That we want the Lachin corridor to be opened immediately. We have made that clear. [US] Secretary [of State Antony] Blinken has engaged with the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan to make it clear that we want the Lachin corridor to be opened immediately to address the really dire humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh."
