The UN is ready to assist the relief efforts the people affected by the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced on Tuesday by Alessandra Vellucci, Director of United Nations (UN) Information Service in Geneva, RIA Novosti reports.

The UN is following the mass departure of people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia very closely, and is very concerned about what is happening, Vellucci said during a press briefing in Geneva. She added that they are ready to assess humanitarian needs, provide assistance to affected people, and assist relief efforts.

Separately, Shabia Mantoo, a spokesperson of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, called on all parties to refrain from such actions that could force the civilian population Nagorno-Karabakh to leave their homes and to ensure the safety of the residents.
