Russia would not like Russian President Vladimir Putin to ever have to decline from visiting Armenia, the head of state’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“Of course, we would not like the president to have to decline from visiting Armenia one day for some reason,” he said in response to the question whether Yerevan’s ratification of the Rome Statute means that the Russian president will avoid visiting Armenia.

Earlier, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Russian President and the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, on charges of illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

Moscow rejects such accusations, calling the formulation of the question outrageous, and also pointing out that Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC, therefore the court’s decisions are insignificant for it.
