A Nicaraguan-bound plane carrying 303 Indian passengers was allowed to leave France on Monday. It was suspected of human trafficking, DW reported.

Airbus A340 was carrying 303 passengers from the United Arab Emirates, it had a stopover at Vatry airfield—in eastern France—for refueling.

The plane, however, was grounded after an anonymous tip that there were potential victims of human trafficking among the passengers.

There were children and families among the passengers. After the flight was grounded, the passengers were first left on the plane, and then taken to the airfield building. Local officials, doctors, and volunteers put beds, provided food and shower there.

After two days of questioning, the French prosecutor's office approved the plane's departure from France on Sunday. In the statement of the prosecutor's office, it was noted that the full approval will be on Monday.

Twelve passengers requested asylum, AFP reported, citing to an anonymous source.

The prosecutors did not comment on what type of human trafficking was involved, and whether the final destination of the passengers was the United States.
