The situation created within the borders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) requires the strengthening of the organization's military potential. Andrey Serdyukov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, stated this in a briefing.

"The dynamics of developments in the world, including in the regions adjacent to the member states of the organization, the transformation of international relations, and the expansion of the scope of challenges and threats dictate the need to improve collective security mechanisms and systematically strengthen the organization's military potential," he said.

According to Serdyukov, the preparation of proposals on the implementation of decisions on the military component of the CSTO is entrusted to its Joint Staff, which plays an important organizational and coordinating role in the creation, development, planning, and use of the forces and means of the Collective Security System of the CSTO.

"The Joint Staff, together with the secretariat of the organization, interested ministries and agencies, pays great attention to the development of all components of the collective forces, implementing their structure and composition in accordance with the challenges and threats of real life," added Serdyukov.

To note, Armenia also is a member in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
