MPs of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction are concerned that Russian border guards are stationed at Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan. Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the aforesaid faction, stated this during Friday’s press briefings in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

According to him, this matter worries not only them, but also most of the Armenian public.

"This matter is on the agenda of our political team. Discussions [in this regard] are underway. When there is a decision, we will all know about it," Hovhannisyan added.

And to the question as to what happened that in the sixth year of being in power it occurred to them that the Russian border guards are a "problem" at Zvartnots airport, Hovhannisyan responded: "Many things happened during these six years. Not in six years, but in several years. Therefore, every reality must presuppose certain judgments, actions, and decisions.

Also, he expressed regret that they "realized" late that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)—which Armenia is a member in—does not work.

"This means we have to go and solve the problem," concluded the secretary of the NA ruling faction.
