In its Cabinet session Thursday, the Armenian government approved the agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).

In the explanation of the respective decision, it is noted that a working agreement on the establishment of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Armenia and Europol, which aims to expand cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, was signed in September 2021 by the Executive Director of Europol and the then Chief of Police of Armenia.

And the agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia and Europol, which will enable to have Armenia’s liaison officer at Europol through whom direct contact will be established with both Europol and the liaison officers sent to Europol from EU member states, was signed by the Executive Director of Europol and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, within the framework of the aforementioned working agreement.

As a result, the fast and safe exchange of information will be ensured, as well as the deepening of Armenia’s cooperation with Europol and the law enforcement agencies of the countries cooperating with it.
