Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, delivered remarks during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in Brussels.

Two months ago, they held a meeting of the Partnership Council with Armenia in Brussels. It was clear that their relations were developing in a positive way, stronger than ever, and that there was a mutual interest in moving these relations forward. And today they are here for that purpose, Borrell said.

With their American partners, they are taking this partnership to the next level, joining forces to demonstrate their strong commitment to Armenia's sovereignty, democracy, and resilience. They want to join forces to strengthen and advance their relations in all domains, stated the EU foreign policy chief.

Within the framework of their Partnership Council, they reached an agreement with Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan to raise the Armenia-EU partnership agenda to the highest possible level—and these are not just words, Borrell noted.

The European Commission President announced a significant package of resilience-building measures for Armenia to strengthen that partnership agenda. They know that Armenia continues to work towards reforms and increasing resilience, and these efforts will be part of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, Borrell said.

It will increase the resilience of the Armenian society. They have seen how Armenia is targeted by foreign information manipulations and interventions. Part of their commitment is to help counter that information and make people understand, including through increasing media literacy, what the right course of action is, Borrell stated.

The EU foreign policy chief added that a strong and stable Armenia means a stronger and more stable South Caucasus, and that the work of the EU is aimed at the interests of all the countries of the region.
