Armenia and Azerbaijan have provided significant assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran. Aleksey Klimov, Director of the Consular Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this in an interview with the TASS news agency.

“In particular, Baku provided the Russians with the opportunity to use the Astara border checkpoint, which has been closed for individual crossings since 2020. This was done based on a preliminary petition from the Russian Embassy in Tehran,” the Russian diplomat added.
