YEREVAN. – Board Chairman Aram Manukyan of the Armenian National Movement Party, which is a part of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC), refused to respond to his former fellow party member Karapet Rubinyan’s comments.

During Monday’s press conference, Rubinyan had proposed Manukyan to withdraw his candidacy from the Electoral District No. 4 of capital Yerevan’s Arabkir Administrative Region, and thereby to yield his spot to “[opposition Heritage Party MP] Zaruhi Postanjyan, one of the best MPs of the Third Republic [of Armenia],”      in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“I will not comment on that statement,” Aram Manukyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am

He also refused to comment on the statement made by the aforesaid press conference’s other speaker, Heritage’s Vice Chairman Ruben Hakobyan, who had said: “In one part of the day you cannot speak about change in power, and, then, in the other part to negotiate with the authorities to enter the parliament.”

“We have assumed a unilateral obligation not to respond to the statements by other political forces, except for the [ruling coalition’s] Republican Party [of Armenia]. We need to disregard such comments, words by other forces,” ANC representative and MP candidate Vladimir Karapetyan had noted in his turn.
