Armenian side not responsible for death of Azerbaijani officer

19:02, 20.07.2012 Region: Armenia, Karabakh, Azerbaijan Theme: Incidents

YEREVAN.- The Armenian side has not registered cases of ceasefire violation in the Karabakh conflict zone, spokesperson for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

His comments came in response to Azerbaijani press reports claiming an officer of their army had been killed.

Hovhannisyan stressed the Azerbaijani side is to blame for the death of a soldier as no ceasefire violation had been registered.

“If the incident was a result of Azerbaijani provocation, Baku is fully responsible for it regardless of where the incident occurred,” he emphasized.

Earlier Azerbaijani Trend agency reported that senior lieutenant Jafar Jafarov was killed in the direction of Tovuz region of Azerbaijan.
