Audi has introduced the third generation of the Q7, a large family SUV that should compete with models such as the Volvo XC90 and Hyundai Santa Fe. Its sales in Europe will start in the coming months, Autocar reports.

The main change is the exterior. While the previous Q7 retained the smooth lines of the body, the new model has a more angular and massive silhouette. The front has become noticeably higher and more upright, now there is an enlarged brand radiator grille, and new split LED headlights emphasize the car’s more rugged character. The car has a completely new interior with large digital screens, an updated multimedia system, and expanded personalization options.

Customers will be able to choose from five-, six- or seven-seater versions. For the first time, the Q7 offers separate captain's chairs in the second row, which makes the car more comfortable for long journeys. Of particular interest is the diesel version. Under the hood is a three-liter V6 engine with a mild hybrid system. Depending on the market, the engine power reaches up to 299 horsepower.

An eight-speed automatic transmission and the quattro brand all-wheel drive system work in tandem. Among the technological innovations of this car are the new generation of matrix LED headlights, OLED taillights with changing graphics, projection turn signals, and an expanded package of electronic driver assistants. According to Audi, the new Q7 will become the basis for the larger Q9 SUV, which should appear in the near future and compete with the BMW X7 and Range Rover.
