Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed confidence that Armenia will soon lose its desire to join the European Union (EU).

“In economic terms, the European Union is losing its advantages due to many factors, including its shortsightedness—if not stupidity. Countries with inertia—our Serbian friends, and now our Armenian partners—continue to strive for EU membership. I am sure that this desire will disappear very soon for them,” Lavrov said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

He added that the European Union is currently “wasting” all its economic advantages.
