Armenia itself will decide on membership in the European Union (EU), but Russia reserves the right to decide on the matters related to the privileges that Armenia will lose in case of rapprochement with the EU, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

Overchuk emphasized that Armenia's possible accession to the EU is Yerevan's own matter and sovereign right, and it is up to it to decide on this matter.

"And it is our [i.e. Russia’s] right to decide on the matters in connection with the privileges that Armenia will lose in case of rapprochement with the EU," the Russian deputy premier added.
