US President Donald Trump believes that even under different political systems, relations between his country and China had never been as strong as they are during his current second term in office.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is in the US on a state visit on Thursday and Friday.

"President Xi and I both understand that we represent different systems [of government], but the ties between our people endure. We’ve never gotten along better," Trump said at the White House state dinner Thursday in honor of the Chinese president.
