Armed forces operating on the side of the internationally recognized government of Yemen have launched an offensive in the direction of the capital Sanaa, which is under the control of the Shiite Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement that rules northern Yemen.
“Our armed forces have begun carrying out a strategic offensive operation on Sanaa,” Brigadier-General Majid al-Nuzaili, the official military spokesman for Yemeni government forces, said in a post on X
Earlier, Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, announced the launch of a military operation to restore control over the Yemeni capital Sanaa, which Houthis had captured in 2014.
